Five Probians attended the Writers Group held at Lesley's home on Friday 1st May. The prompt was 'Leaving Home'. As well as the writers providing a variety of experiences on the topic, it generated considerable discussion. The stories included information about personal journeys through career, marriage and divorce as well as dilemmas about where one calls 'home', especially following a transition from another country. One member described leaving home in order to attend high school/university as well as a family history of migration by grandparents where distance involved permanent separation from those left behind. The effort involved of keeping in touch, even by letter, was difficult - a contrast to today's practice using instant communication through email or social media, as described by one of our writers. My own story focused on the practice of leaving the family home to children in a Will and all the complexities involved in that transaction.

In order to avoid a clash with the Probus lunch at the Saltbush restaurant on 5th June, our next meeting will be held at Tony's house on the second Friday of the month, 12th June. The prompt for that meeting is 'Politics'.
