The aim of the Wine and Cheese Gathering Group is fun and fellowship. It is not for any particular wine person but for all. More a tasting to expand our range with everyone’s views accepted and valued.

We try 3 wines and cheeses over about an hour and a half in a safe environment. 

The Gathering takes place on the 2^nd Wednesday of each Month from 3:00pm to 4:30pm.

April 2026

Fourteen Probians gathered at Jenny and Rob's house on 15^th April for a convivial afternoon of wine tasting.

The hosts had chosen three varieties of Portuguese wine with appropriate cheeses to complement each one. The first wine was a very light Rose - 'Casa Mendes' with a 'light sparkle', followed by a white wine - 'Vinho Verde' - from the Minho region of Portugal's North coastal district. Finally, we tasted a 'Bons Ventos' red wine from the district of Alentejo. As Portuguese cheeses are not available locally, a French Brie, a Spanish Iberico and a smoked Dutch cheese were served with crackers and prosciutto.
