APRIL 2026

Members learning more about shares and finance.

Due to the Easter holidays our meeting was moved to Wednesday after a group vote on the issue.
Participating members must have been fuelled by chocolate or hot cross buns because the meeting was an extremely lively one. It is great to have all round participation and contributions which made such a lively tempo to the meeting.

With so many International and Australian issues impacting on the share market there was a mammoth amount of content; one word volatility was used so many times.

Congratulations to Marg for holding the lead in the $100k challenge for the second month, and to Paul

for reaching second place, his best effort either last year or this year. Coming in ast is the writer……

sh, sh, sh… !
Due to so many members being overseas or away on holiday next month’s meeting  will be a bye, back into it in June.

MARCH 2026

Members learning about shares and enhancing financial understandings.

This meeting began with a packed agenda and towards the end of the meeting in extra business several more items were included, so busy and extensive accurately described the meeting.

There has been a huge amount happening on the International economic scene and this produced wide discussion. Similarly, the Australian economic and share scene has had a tremendous amount of happenings, with the reporting season adding significantly to this. The latter covered in an agenda item titled “the good, the bad and the ugly “.

It was the first monthly reckoning for the $100 k Challenge with Marg, Keiren, Tony and Dale (in that order) well in the lead. Unlike last year no one is in negative territory for the first month.
Due to time pressure several of the topics introduced as further business warrant revisiting at the next meeting, there simply wasn’t enough time for further discussion.

Next meeting Wednesday 8th April, change of day due to Easter holidays.

FEBRUARY 2026 MEETING – Daryl Rogers

Members educating themselves about shares.

A group that stayed back after the meeting and enjoyed a long lunch, (not quite as long as the meeting ) were unanimous that our meeting was one of the best we have had. Several reasons were given, an extended agenda, a mix of familiar agenda items and several new ones. Then the input from everyone into the conversation about items.

There was a great deal to discuss about international and Australian economic happenings; so many major events in the past month. No shortage of controversy. And to have our meeting on a day the Australian Reserve Bank was to hand down its interest rate decision was an irresistible agenda item. Our consensus decision was correct again!

Each member presented their portfolio breakdown for the $100k Challenge and their underlying strategy. Some very different strategies emerged and it will be very interesting to see which ones produce the most results. Stand by for the first month’s results after our next meeting!

A one off agenda item was a retrospective on the share market in 2025, a collection of statistics gathered from a number of reliable sources. There were really valuable insights amongst these, the share market contrasted to other forms of investment, sector comparisons and the highs and lows. This item would be worthy of being on the agenda at the same time next year.
