                                                           Photography Group.

Our photographers meet regularly at a different location around Melbourne and occasionally a little further afield,  to enjoy each others company and practice their photography skills. At the bottom of this page is a small selection of photographs which members have taken at different locations over the past year.

Most photography outings will be on the fourth Friday of the month.

We aim to start at 10am, take photographs for a couple of hours, and then have lunch together nearby. You don’t need an expensive camera, your mobile phone will do, and you get to see some great locations around Melbourne.

Please contact Michael Ransom on 0417 514 349, if you would like to participate.

PROPOSED PROGRAM FOR 2026

After lots of discussion, we agreed on our program for 2026. I have selected the dates; they are generally on the last Friday of the month except for May and September. It is earlier in May to catch the best of the autumn leaves, and in September when the fourth Friday is a public holiday.

April 24. Castlemaine.
May 15. Warburton.
June 26. Photo Critique.
July 24. Dandenong Market.
August 28. Latrobe University.
September 18. Docklands.
October 23. Cranbourne Botanic Gardens.
November 27. Photo Critique.

April 2026

Our next photo club outing is to Castlemaine, a town with a very rich history.

Date is Friday April 24.

March 2026

Our March outing was to the City at twilight.

Despite the cold night we were able to take some great photos of the city and Southbank as the light changed from daylight to evening.

February 27, 2026

Six keen photographers travelled to Spotswood on the last Friday of February. After walking through Spotswood’s industrial heart and under the Westgate Bridge, we finished our excursion at Scienceworks, where many of us have spent time in the past with our grandchildren. We even found mangroves growing at the water’s edge underneath the Westgate Bridge. Thank you to Glenn for organising the day.

Our next outing is on Friday 27 March, exploring “late afternoon in the city”. We will meet "under the clocks" at Flinders Street Station at 5.30pm and photograph the city sights as the light changes from afternoon to evening. Weather permitting, we will then enjoy dinner at one of the laneway restaurants in the city.

If you are travelling by train, we will travel to the city on the last carriage on the 4.50pm train from Blackburn station.

Please let Michael Ransom know if you would like to attend. Ph: 0417 514 349.

The program is:

November 23, Photopgraphy Review

All Probus Club members are welcome to join this group; we visit some really interesting places. You don't need an expensive camera, your mobile phone will do.

October 25, Newport Train Museum

There is a great array of steam, diesel and electric locomotives as well as old passenger carriages and goods wagons. It will be of interest not only to photographers, but also to anyone who is interested in railways, as well as Victoria’s history.
