The Food Republic Blackburn

Thank you Meryl for organising another great lunch outing, despite the very wet day. We must nearly own the building, considering the money we have contributed over the years, but is always a great meal and lots of friendship and chatter.

28 members joined this lunch outing – close to 50% attendance which is a wonderful achievement. The usual fish and chips, lasagne, steak sandwich and Vietnamese slaw salad were most popular.

The staff are always very friendly and helpful, but this time a glass of bubbles slid off the tray and two members got quite wet but staff quickly mopped up the mess.

SEPTEMBER 2026

Chirnside Country Club

Celebrating 50 years of Probus in Australia.

A well patronised Probus luncheon was enjoyed at “Chirnside Park Country Club” on Sunday. 
A well appointed venue with ample parking set in lovely surroundings The menu range was extensive with plenty to choose from all enjoying our lunch. 
Our members enjoyed a great day out with good company.

AUGUST 2026 - Oggies, Burwood East

23 August – 12.30 

Twenty nine members duly arrived at Oggies for our regular Sunday lunch. We had two large tables at the rear of the restaurant and we all squashed in. Meryl did a wonderful job organising us all to be there and find a seat.

Service was slow, the room was so dreadfully noisy you could not talk to the person next to you which was a little sad as it is a time to talk with other members.  The meals were generally of a good size although I thought a little expensive – I had Thai prawn and scallop salad, a large very nice salad in the middle of the plate and 4 prawns and 3 scallops around the edge.

Pizza eaters were very satisfied as were others with what they ordered.

JULY 2026 - Old England Hotel

 

 

JUNE 2026

Sunday 28 June  - Box Hill RSL.

Thirty members duly arrived and checked in at the Box Hill RSL for another great meal. There was plenty of parking available which makes the RSL a good venue.

 

Thank you again Meryl for organising this event. No-one went home hungry.

MAY 2026

Despite a very cool day, 23 members enjoyed great company and food at the nursery.

Main meal menu is limited but desserts make up for that.

There is a magnificent display of plants and an expensive gift shop for you to spend spare time/money.
