Like minded members of the club have formed  special interest groups to allow them to pursue their interests outside the club's normal meeting times. If you are interested in any of the following special interest groups please contact the appropriate Coordinator listed below:

Sessions will be held on the last Monday of each month at Club Thirroul commencing at 3.30pm, depending upon numbers. All are encouraged to stay for dinner afterwards.

The Book Club will meet on the first Monday of the month, at 10.00 am, at Club Thirroul in the dining area.

The Book Club has changed the future format of their meetings. There are so many titles members are keen to read, that it was suggested that members read the book of their choice and then speak for a few minutes about their chosen book at the next meeting. After much deliberation( ie drinks & nibblies), Rodd & I, with blindfolds on, took a pin and stabbed at the map of NSW and WAGGA WAGGA is the result.

Cycling & Swimming Group: Martin Donelan  Mob: 0411 709 300

The Cycling Group usually meets once a fortnight/month for rides within the Illawarra region. Rides generally start at 9.00 am and back home before lunch time. All rides will be announced a few days in advance and is dependent on weather. All styles of bikes (road/mtb/ebike etc) are acceptable.

Small Group Dining Program


Glenn & Mary Ellen will be hosting a Small Group dinner at the newest restaurant in Thirroul, Nôm. The restaurant occupies the former site of Madam Choi and aims to provide a true Vietnamese dining experience, emphasizing traditional flavours without fusion or MSG.

Please join us on Thursday, August 13 from 6pm. Contact Glenn on 0419 260 770 to join the group of 6 to 8.

“Hosting” does not mean you pay for everyone’s dinner! You just take on the responsibility of booking the table, contact some likely companions and reminding those who are joining you by email the previous day to the dinner date - that’s all. Take the plunge and have dinner with other members to get to know them a bit better!

These small group nights are great for getting to know other members a little better and with a different Restaurant of the Month we can support our local businesses on a quieter night than their weekend nights.

Buzzer Lunch Break 

 

The Buzzer Lunch for June is on Thursday 20th August 2026 at 12.00 pm at the Mount Kembla Village Hotel, 274 Cordeaux Rd, Wollongong.

We will meet there at 12.00pm and if you have the time, you may wish to drive further up the road to the lookout for views over Lake Illawarra to the sea! The hotel, established in 1898, is heritage listed and the oldest weatherboard hotel in the Illawarra.

EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST

My Fair Lady Musical

The My Fair Lady Musical is coming to the Sydney Opera House next September 2026. I am thinking of having a Group outing there on Sunday, 16 September for the Matinee Show. So far, we have 7 members interested, and we need 10+ members. I will be keeping an eye on available seats, but don't intend to buy tickets until March next year. My Fair Lady brims with razor-sharp wit, unforgettable characters, and a glorious score including 'Wouldn't It Be Loverly?', 'I Could Have Danced All Night' and 'Get Me to the Church on Time'.
