National Arboretum Canberra

We plan to meet in the Visitors Centre to enjoy Brunch or Morning Tea at the Café.  You can take as long as you like, no organised tour is planned.

After morning tea, members may like to stroll through the Bonsai Welcome Garden, or visit one of the Living Collections, i.e. Forests and Trees or the Gardens, for example the National Rock Garden.  You may prefer to follow the slope towards the lower dam via the Zig Zag walk, or the Dairy Farmers Hill Track (2.3km return), considered a moderate walk.

Time:              10:30am

Parking:              Fees Apply

Australian War Memorial

The Australian War Memorial has marked a major milestone by re-opening Aircraft Hall and by opening the Atrium as well as some sections of the New Anzac Hall.  The Gulf War and Peacekeeping Galleries are open in the lower level and there is a full view of the upper level (including the Lancaster Bomber “G for George”) from the Mezzanine.

Our member David Knight, a voluntary guide, will be on hand to assist with the visit.

Time:  Arrive at 10:00am in the Atrium for a self-guided tour.

Refreshments:  At the Cove Café in the Atrium.

Parking:  Free underground parking.
