St Heliers ladies Probus Club

Todays meeting Tuesday 8th 2pm at St Heliers Presbyterian Church, St Heliers Bay Rd

Our speaker today is Guy Slocum. At the age of 16 and in the Cold War period, Guy was flying Folland Gnat, Hawker Hunter, English Electric Lightning, McDonnell Douglas Phantom, and Hawker Harrier for the RAF . His bio tells of some hair raising experiences during this time. He now has a quieter life here running two businesses, one covering Natural Health and the other teaching Ethical Sales Techniques.

Food bank donations If you wish, please bring some non perishable food items for the church’s donation to the local food bank. This is a way we can be a caring part of our local community.

October meeting Tuesday 13 th

Tuesday October 20th Crystal Mountain visit. Robyn has pencilled in a booking for us to visit this attraction in Swanson. She will give us more information at the October meeting, so please sign the trip book if interested. This will be a car sharing trip.

Tuesday 8th December, 12 noon Our Christmas lunch at The Terraces St Andrews.

From Mid-winter Feast to Christmas Eve supper: an Illustrated talk. September 29, 10:30 to 11:30 at the Polish Museum, 125 Elliot Street, Howick. Some years ago we had a club member who was one of these child immigrants so we visited this museum. A most worthwhile visit. 

Titianic The HumanStory “A journey into the heart of the ship”28 AUG, 2026 - 27 SEP, 2026 at Smith & Caughey building Queen St CBD.

This exhibition contains photos, written letters and belongings of those involved in this tragedy, with immersive re-creations of the ships interior. An audio guide takes you through this experience.
