Events in May:
1-Tuesday 12th May at 2pm: Club Metting at The St Heliers Bay Community Centre, 100 St Heliers Bay Rd.
Today our speaker is Colleen Brown. Colleen is a historian, writer and has spent many years in Local Government in South Auckland. Today she will tell us about her historic research of WW1 leading to her writing of “Violet’s Scarf” a children's book set in WW1.
Anzac memorial 
Some of us are children, grandchildren or nieces/nephews of those who returned
from WW! and may have memorabilia stored away so we thought we would make
our own tribute to those who served.
Please make a label with your name, the soldiers name and his/her
relationship to you and put the article on the back table.
2- Tuesday 19th May: Movie Day. As usual, we are unsure of which movies will be available. Diane may be able to tell us on Tuesday, and I will send my usual email.
3- Tuesday 26th May: Lunch at 12 noon at Stonefields Public House, 40 Stonefields Avenue. Let’s have a pub lunch this month. The special of the day is steak with salad and chips at $20/25. All the usual pub food is available, and the salads and bar snacks will suit lighter eaters. Copies of the menu are on the dais. Please sign the trip book so Robyn can book.
Upcoming Events:
JUNE: Tuesday June 9th: is Our Birthday, an important celebration so hopefully everyone can make it.
JULY: Tuesday 14th July: Our clubs mid-winter Lunch at Waipuna Lodge buffet, 12noon, $40 pp. Please sign the trip book.
SEPT: Tuesday 22nd September: Behind the scenes,10 am at the Auckland Museum cost $30. This is a proposed outing. The Museum is offering these tours over the next 5 months. We have a busy schedule up until September, so I am looking into this date. I don’t have much detail yet, but please save the date and I should have full details for you in July.
