Events:
Tuesday 14th April 2pm: Club meeting at The St Heliers Bay Community Centre, 100 St Heliers Bay Rd.
Today our speaker is Jackie Mc Laren from Borneo Bags. We all know about endangered orangutan and the deforestation of the Borneo rain forests, but we hear little about the hunter gatherer people who must live with these palm plantations. While teaching science Jackie received a Royal Society Fellowship to help the last hunter gatherer tribes to survive the destruction. Jackie will tell us how she has helped the Penan tribe adapt to their current situation. Including setting up a women’s collective weaving baskets, which she sells in NZ.
Tuesday 21st April - Movie Day
As usual, we are unsure of which movies will be available. Diane may be able to tell us on Tuesday, and I will send my usual email.
Tuesday 28th April - Coffee Group at 10.30am
Coffee group 10 30 am at The Honey Café at the Riddel Rd, Roberta Ave intersection. Some of you may remember this café as a sports bar. It is under new management, has a lovely atmosphere and a good cabinet selection.

Ladies who Lunch.
What a lovely day, the weather was glorious, the venue inviting, the food delicious and the car pooling successful for the 22 ladies who came to Lunch at the Cornwell Park Bistro. Our luncheons are proving very popular. If you know of a restaurant we may enjoy, please let Robyn know.
Book exchange and back table.
The use of our book exchange is dwindling, so again I encourage everyone to bring books they have enjoyed and would like to recommend for the table. If you take a book and enjoy it you could return it so others can enjoy it too. The club sometimes receives information that may be of interest to some members, like services and advertising material for the theatre, concerts, festivals etc, which I will put on the table. Also, if you want to advertise something personal such as book club, mahjong etc I can put a poster there for you.
Looking forward to seeing you on Tuesday - Lorna
