FRANKSTON COMBINED PROBUS CLUB   

                         

All PROBUS clubs have a number of small interest groups which are an enjoyable way of getting to know members of the Club in a smaller and maybe less intimidating way.  These activities are normally held once a month at various locations and last an hour to two with a lot of chatting and friendship.  Our own Club’s activities are listed below.  Each month a newsletter is provided at the General Meeting giving details of all activities for the following month as well as advance warning of events further ahead.  The names and phone numbers of co-ordinators of all activities are listed in the newsletter so please contact these members if you need to know more.

Wednesday Short Walk            Every Wednesday

We leave at 9.30am sharp from the Car Park near the children's playground behind the Frankston Info Centre and walk along the boardwalk to the Oliver Hill Jetty, then back to Mr Franks Café.   (in the South East Water building) Non walkers can meet at Mr Franks for coffee and chat at 10am on the walkers’ return.

Monday Long Walk                  1^st Monday of Month

Each month our co-ordinator arranges a walk in the Frankston/Peninsula area and we enjoy a coffee along the way or at the end.  Walk takes about 1 ½ Hours.

Happy Hour & Half               1^st Wednesday of Month

We meet in a member’s home each month at 5.00 - 6.30pm.  BYO drinks and nibbles for a fun social evening.  Get to know other club members in a more intermate setting

Book Group                               2^nd Monday of Month

Frankston Library supply the books and if you enjoy reading and discussing books you will enjoy this. We meet at the Baxter Village Parkside Centre at 1.30pm

Dine Out (Evening)                  2^nd Tuesday of Month

Each month we meet at various venues in the Frankston Mornington area at 6pm.

Committee Meeting                  2^nd Friday of Month

10am at the Parkside Centre Baxter Village Gate 4

Garden Group                         3rd Tuesday of Month

Visits to various nurseries, public gardens or something special relating to gardens are organised each month.  This date may vary depending on what is organized.  Everyone welcome.

General Meeting                       3^rd Friday of Month

Arrive at 9.30 for a 9.45 am start to give everyone a chance to mix and mingle and put your names down for monthly outings.  The General Meeting is held at Frankston Bowling Club, Yuille Street, Frankston.  After activity reports morning tea is served at 10.30 followed by an interesting and entertaining talk given by a guest speaker.  This is our Club’s main activity and all members are encouraged to attend.     

Luncheon                                   4^th Thursday of Month

Each month we meet at various venues in the Frankston-Mornington area at 12.00 noon

Bike Ride                                    4^th Friday of Month

Enjoy a bike ride at various places on the Peninsula.  Rides are approximately an hour starting at 9.30am and designed for limited fitness and stopping for a coffee along the way.

Picnic in the Park            Last Wednesday of Month

Held during daylight saving months only 5.30 pm at Beauty Park BBQ area off Young Street. Meet near the car park between Plowman Place and High Street Frankston. BYO picnic and chair to enjoy a fun social evening.

Caravan & Cabin Trips

These are held twice a year, usually in March and October.  We spend 3-4 days away together, not travelling too far and visiting local attractions

Outings and Cultural Events

Approximately once a month a special outing is organised:  this could be a cultural event, an exhibition, play, musical, or visiting a place of interest.  Details are advertised in the Club’s newsletter and announced at the General Meetings.

Christmas Party                         2nd or 3rd Friday in December

Our December General Meeting is replaced with a Christmas Dinner and Party.  A great way to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and enjoy a traditional Christmas Dinner, music and dancing.
