Probus Club of Carseldine Queensland

Monthly Trips

Carseldine Probus Club has a program of monthly outings usually held on the third Tuesday of each month. These include places of interest and a lunch. They can be anywhere in south east Queensland within a comfortable days coach trip, car pool or public transport.

In 2025, these included trips …

# up the Brisbane River,

# to a goat farm at Boonah,

# to the Brisbane Casino lookout,

# to a glow worm cave

Guest Speakers

At most monthly meetings a Guest Speaker is programmed to address the meeting for 45 minutes to one hour including question time.  The Guest Speaker program is one way the Club responds to the need to provide intellectual stimulation for its retired members.  Experts in a particular field are sought to provide talks on their area of expertise.

On other occasions a talk with an emphasis on providing information of relevance to retirees is scheduled.  From time to time one or a panel of members will fill the guest speaker spot and talk on subjects of special interest to the members.

Recent guest speakers have included a Solicitor informing the members of the need to have a Will and an advanced Health Directive and other important documents for heirs and beneficaries. Because of COVID not a lot of meetings were held in 2020 but were resumed with a fairly full programme of interesting speakers in 2021.

  Special Events

From time to time throughout the year, instead of a monthly trip, Carseldine Club holds what have become traditional events.

In January a breakfast BBQ by the Bay is held to mark Australia Day

In April we celebrate the foundation of the Club with a special lunch. This year this was held at Hornets Football Club on Tuesday 15th April.

In November an evening Christmas Dinner is held each year and attended by Santa Claus.

Extended Trips

Each year, the club organises an extended trip away –a holiday.

In 2023 we went to Macksville in NSW for a wonderful trip around the Coffs Harbour and Dorrigo areas.

In 2025 we flew down to Tasmania for a 10 day bus tour around the apple isle. We covered all the main tourist sites up and down Tasmania and had lots of fun: great hotels, meals, fun and friendship.  There was something for everyone: wildlife, history, museums, sky walks, craft, boat trips, wineries and scenery. It was pretty chilly down there. But did we care? No! We were with lots of friends.

The experience of a holiday with a group of friends is the best way to travel.
