President’s Message
February was an active and enjoyable month for the Club, beginning with our first Mystery Tour of 2026. Members enjoyed morning tea at Lambeth Park on the Georges River. Members then visited the Chau Chak Wing Museum at the University of Sydney, where we explored fascinating exhibits. Lunch was enjoyed at Sydney Juniors Club, providing a chance to relax and socialise before a spot of shopping and a coffee break at Homebush DFO. Throughout the journey, our regular coach driver expertly navigated the narrow lanes at Sydney University, once again demonstrating his skill and professionalism.
The “Coffee with the Gang” gathering at Jamaica Blue provided a relaxed opportunity for members to reconnect, while another highlight was the well‑attended lunch at the Plough and Harrow Hotel in Camden. The hotel has a rich and proud history; the Plough and Harrow still stand in the original spot where it was built in 1841 by Samuel Arnold.
February also saw strong attendance at FliP. Members viewed Wuthering Heights (2026), Emerald Fennell’s adaptation of the classic Emily Brontë novel, starring Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi. The film was well produced and creatively presented, exploring intense themes and therefore suited to mature audiences.
Our March General Meeting will include a special celebration of our Probus Golden Anniversary, marking 50 years in 2026.
We have secured group seating for Campbelltown Theatre’s production of Come From Away on Sunday, 22 March 2026 at 1:30 pm at the Town Hall Theatre, Campbelltown.
As we conclude the current committee term, I extend my sincere thanks to all committee members for their dedication, time, and support. Your efforts have greatly contributed to the success of our Club and the enjoyment of our members.
I also warmly congratulate and welcome the 2026 Committee. I look forward to working with you and wish you every success as you continue to foster the spirit of Fun, Friendship, and Fellowship that defines our Club.
