Guest Speaker ANDREW CAMPBELL

HEARING AND BRAIN HEALTH

In this presentation Andrew explores the physical and mental effects of untreated hearing loss, how to overcome barriers to treatment, and why proactive hearing care is vital to life long brain health.

According to the Lancet medical journal, hearing loss is the #1 modifiable risk factor in preventing dementia. Modifiable meaning its something you can do something about.

The talk will cover:

  • understanding the critical importance of preserving the neural pathways between the ears and the brain, for the prevention of dementia
  • what you can do to keep your brain engaged and active and how soon you need to start
  • why the term “use it or lose it” applies to the connection between hearing and the brain
  • why some people can never get their hearing back once it deteriorates and how you can prevent it it happening
