OUTINGS and EVENTS

Our Club's Outings are organised by a sub-commitee led by the Activities Officer  

2024 (Sept - Dec) Events included : Paris Exhibition Bendigo, Dine Out at the Royal Oak,  Kilderkin Gin Distillery , Lunch at Nolans in the Goods Shed, "The Tap Pack at Wendouree Centre for Performing Arts, Grand Final Night, Trip to Yarrawonga (4 nights), Visit to Buddhist Stupa, Melbourne Cup Day at Keith's, Attwoods Winery, Bus Trip to Ararat and the Chinese Historical Centre, Birdsong Nursery, Christmas Breakup Dinner at The Grand.

2025 Jan/March: Annual Picnic at Kirks, Summer BBQ at members home in Sulky, Yarra River Cruise Southbank to Williamstown and the Maritime Museum, Dinner at Provincial Hotel, Mystery Coach Trip to....? (4 nights), Trip to Melbourne Zoo, Rebecca's Flower Garden in Bungaree.

2025: 4Cs monthly of course, Lambley Nursery and in November Norfolk Island (8 nights), Ballarat Chinese Museum in Lydiard St, Visit to Avalon Nursery, Lunch at Taltarni Winery, Morning Melodies in Hamer Hall and much more.

2026: already Kirks picnic, Summer BBQ at a members home attended by over 30, special lunch to celebrate our first centenarian, lavendula, 4Cs each month, return of Stroll and Sip, Marina Prior and David Hobson performance, Werribee Zoo, Day out in Geelong including a visit to the World Wildlife Photography Winners Exhibition, a tour of the new Underground Stations and the Melbourne Town Hall, coming up in June Ballarat Observatory and in July a tour of Government House and the Shrine.

Suggestions from members are welcomed. Members are informed about events in the monthly Events Listing which is included with our newsletter and is available by email or printed. An example is attached below. Contact Meredith Rudd for a copy.

There are many regular events

• The new year usually starts with a Picnic at Kirks Reservoir sometime mid January.

• 4Cs (Company, Conversation, Cake and Coffee) meets monthly.

• Each month a get together for those celebrating a birthday is organised.

• Dine Ins where members host 6-8 members for a friendly dinner. Alternate months.

• Dine Outs where we visit local restaurants. Alternate Months.

• BBQs at members homes in February and November.

• A Cup Day Get Together.

• A Grand Final Eve Get Together complete with pies, fankfurts and ice-creams.

• The Christmas Breakup is always a highlight on the First Tuesday in December.

Day Trips to a wide variety of destinations are popular 

• Usually about 3 day trips by bus each year. Sometimes we join with another Club.

• Some local day trips use car pooling. A recent one was the Vegemite Museum in Beaufort. Members have been to several of the exhibitions at the Bendigo Art gallery.

• Several trips to Melbourne by train each year for various events or visits. Recent ones have been to LUME, and South Melbourne Market.

• Sometimes there will be a longer trip to a mystery destination which requires an overnight stay of at least one night.

• The recent Car Rally was a hit with members and, after solving a very cryptic set of clues, all participants managed to reach the Smythesdale Pub for lunch.

• Melbourne for popular musicals

• Performances in Ballarat

• Tours of Ballarat icons such as the Mechanics Institute, Art Gallery, Chinese Museum and Town Hall.

• A recent 2 hour cruise on Lake Wendouree which included a lunch of pizza and slices.
