Walking Group:

Mal G has a schedule of walks which have all been approved by the Committee so as to be acceptable with our insurance.

An energetic group of members meets at 09:15 am every 1st, 3rd and 4th Wednesday of the month to explore and discover scenic routes around Albany and surrounding districts. There is a lot of history in and around the City, so there is a lot to learn! There are some great walks in town, along the coast and also bush walks. Mal has tried to give us a varied selection of walks that allow us to see areas we may not have walked before, and also areas of historical value. A good way of exercising, socialising as well as learning about the history of our lovely City.

Movies, Theatre and Curatorials:

In Albany there is an abundance of concerts, plays and recitals providing groups of members the opportunity enjoy theatrical events.  WA Museum of the Great Southern conducts curatorials on local historical events and generally these are held on Tuesday mornings at 10.30am. We are really lucky to have such a great number of volunteers who are willing to organise so many activities for those of us who are theatrical buffs.

July sees Albany running many concerts and speaker events relative to the annual Maritime Festival and also The International Folk "n" Shanty Festival. There are numerous posters around town advertising these.

 Night Owls:

Connoisseurs of food and wine are spoilt for choice in Albany and our members venture forth for an evening meal on the 2nd Thursday of the month to participate in a range of cuisine from around the World at a variety of restaurants.

Winery Wanderers:

The Great Southern of Western Australia is noted for its cool climate wines.  Quality wineries in Denmark, Mt Barker and Porongurup regions are all within an easy drive from Albany.  Three or four times each year the Club takes a tour through the countryside to one of these wineries where we enjoy a tasting of the vintage with luncheon provided in the winery cafe.

Coffee Club:

Members gather on the first Friday of the month to enjoy each others company whilst partaking in the best coffee and cakes offered by coffee houses in and around Albany. Handasydes Strawberry Farm is the venue for July 3rd. This is a great favourite of the club and one needs to ensure that your name is listed on the attendance sheet at general meeting. Reminders are sent out each month in case anyone has forgotten the venue. We always meet at 10.am.

Annual Picnic:

During January our Club is in recess, which means there are no formal meetings, but the fun must continue.  On the 2nd Wednesday in January the Club holds an annual picnic at Emu Point picnic grounds.  This is a relaxed, informal gathering that allows members to catch up after Xmas and provides a great venue for fellowship. Bring your own chair, food to share and something to drink.
